Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) recently issued a warning to all residents to take added precautions against mosquitoes especially if they plan on barbequing outside, as is common around this time of the year.
Director Public Health Tracey Oakman warned that mosquitoes can carry human diseases like Ross River virus and others and people should take the necessary precautions to avoid being bitten.
Some of the symptoms of infections include rash, fever, sore and swollen joints and tiredness.
Precautions that can be taken include covering up and using insect repellent. Repellent should be re-applied every few hours.
Its also important to protect your family by having all your doors and even windows screened to keep mosquitoes and other insects out.
