For his part, furniture manufacturer Slobproof! managing director Sam Weinberger recommends 100 percent maple hardwood for furniture frames because of their durability and long lifespan. On the other hand, polyester fabrics outlast suedes and other softer material.
Darker fabrics get the nod over neutral-coloured fabrics because the former aren’t as high-maintenance. Plus, they can also hide stains and other messes.
