This is such a cool sofa for your home or patio and it was inspired by the icon herself, Aurey Hepburn who had one in her home in the movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
Here’s how you can turn your bath tub into a cool sofa:
- Cut out the front. Use painter’s tape to mark out the cut starting from the head of the tub. As you work your way diagonally down to roughly 150mm above the foot, label the cut straight in from the lip. Next, use an angle grinder to cut into the tape marks. If you’re not used to handling this tool, ask a professional handyman for assistance.
- Add designer colour. Before colouring your tub, clear it of any debris. Place drop sheets in the interior and apply tape to their edges so you don’t overspray. If you are using spray paint, make sure you hold the can upright and move it in a back and forth motion. Thin and light coats work best because they dry completely in less time, which is important before you can apply the final coating.
- Make it comfortable. Cut your foam so it takes the shape of your tub’s base. Use a sewing machine to cover the foam with fabric. If you’re not confident about your sewing skills, simply fold your fabric around the foam and apply double-sided fabric tape to secure it. For your finishing touch, add cushions and pillows to the tub. Mix and match colours as you please.
