“Fight the Bite” campaign highlights the symptoms of these diseases which include a rash, joint and muscle pain, swelling, stiffness, fever, chills, headache, tiredness/weakness, and/or a general feeling of being unwell after being bitten by a mosquito. People are advised to seek medical attention immediately.
SA Health gave the following tips to protect yourself from mosquito bites:
- Wear light-coloured, loose-fitting clothes.
- Use a DEET-based (diethyl toluamide) or picaridin-based insect repellent.
- Stay away from mosquito breeding areas in your residence or business.
