Townsville residents, frustrated by the invasion of ants in their homes have resorted to all types of methods to try and gain some relief including using oil of cloves around the home, baby powder and peppermint oil.
Some people have even been putting peanut butter, honey or butter outside their front and back doors in a plate as a diversion for the ants hoping these pests will leave their kitchens alone.
People say these tiny ants have become so bothersome, getting into sealed packaging and biting people.
Some residents have also complained of an infestation of cockroaches and termites, as well as rodents.
If you fear a similar infestation, make sure your home is protected, have your openings covered with insect screens.
